The purpose of the Safety Education and Aquatic Safety for Kids (SEAL Kids) is to promote ocean safety through education. It provides a safe and fun setting for young people to increase their understanding and familiarity with the outdoor aquatic environment. This will be accomplished by focusing on three main factors that contribute to a safe ocean experience: the ocean environment, basic first-aid, and smart health choices.
WHO: Kids ages 6-12 who are interested in learning about the Ocean, First Aid, and Physical Fitness. Instructors are Corolla Ocean Rescue lifeguards. Adults are invited to attend a short parent/guardian informational seminar offered simultaneously.
WHAT: SEAL Kids is a 2-hour program that allows kids to interact with their local lifeguards to learn about and help create a safer aquatic environment!
WHEN: Every Tuesday, starting June 14th and running until mid-August. You may call and register for one of the following two class times: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: ON THE BEACH at directly across from the Currituck Lighthouse. Park in the public access parking lot and walk over the ramp. You will see our tent! Call or e-mail for more specifics.
WHY: WAY TOO MANY REASONS TO LIST! It’s a productive, fun, and educational way to spend some vacation time and learn how to create a safer beach environment!
HOW: Cost is FREE! For more information or to sign up, please call or e-mail Chelsea Hess at corollaseals@gmail.com or 252.619.2285. We prefer pre-registration, but it is not required. Each student receives free goodies compliments of our local sponsors and tee-shirts are for sale on-site.
